Frequently asked questions
What is OMT?
Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT), also referred to as Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM), or Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (ONMM), is a holistic and hands-on approach to healthcare that focuses on treating the body as a whole, rather than just addressing isolated symptoms. OMT practitioners, known as osteopathic physicians or DOs, use their hands to diagnose, treat, and prevent a wide range of health conditions. This approach acknowledges the body's innate ability to heal itself and aims to promote optimal function, reduce pain, and enhance overall well-being.
Why don't you accept insurance?
Dr. Petersen does not file insurance claims on behalf of her patients in order to decrease time spent performing "administrative" tasks and to lower overhead costs. That being said, OMT is covered by most major insurances including medicare and medicaid. Dr. Petersen is happy to provide the paperwork necessary for you to file for reimbursement.
When is the next time you be in Salt Lake City?
Dr. Petersen makes her "OMT Rounds" in Salt Lake City for one week approximately once a quarter. As the Utah practice builds, there will be a separate Utah booking section for the website. But until then please use the contact form to request upcoming dates.
